Project Proposal
This assignment was for my senior seminar class and my senior project. My project is raising money for the paddling team and I had to write a project proposal justifying my senior project. We had to summarize our project, explain the limitations we may encounter, and in my case explain the cost of everything that we want to acquire for the school. This 21st century skill deals with economic choices and entrepreneurial spirit. I have done a lot of research on how much things cost and how to raise money in the best way. I wanted to find a way to incorporate my senior project with my college major to get some experience with it. Business marketing incorporates this skill heavily as this skill is about understanding how to make good economic and business decisions. Overall, this project helped me advance my senior project while also helping me understand my college major and Financial, Economic, and Business Literacy skills.

Summary And Driving Question
I have been a paddler for four years at Kihei Charter and Kihei Canoe Club and I have noticed that the equipment and facilities we use can be improved upon. My plan for a senior project is to raise money for the Kihei Charter Paddling team so I can improve the equipment and hopefully by doing so encourage more people to become involved in paddling. Therein lies the question though: How can I raise money for the paddling team to better their equipment and facilities?
Deliverables
I have two main projects I would like to focus on during this project. The first is that Kihei Charter School is in need of personalized tents. Kihei Charter is currently using Texas Longhorn tents while I look around and schools like Seaubury and Kamehameha have their logos on their tents. My second main idea would like to get our names on the back of our jerseys. I believe that doing this will allow students to care more about their jerseys and will be more memorable. Finally, with any extra funds, I would like to get new paddles for Kihei Charter. Last paddling season we lost nine paddles and I would like to replace those and replace some of our more used paddles. Also, I would like to get a speed coach for Kihei Charter. This will allow coaches and steersmen to measure how fast the crews are going and are extremely beneficial for a paddling team to have.
Budget
Of course, all these projects cost money and I do have a few ideas for me to raise the money. My first big fundraiser will be to help Coach Federoff with the annual car wash. This fundraiser has been successful for us in the past with the funds I help raise we will be able to execute my ideas. I believe that this would raise us a lot of money as it has been successful in the past so we get the money to better our equipment. I’ve also had an idea for a raffle where the winner gets a free paddle. This will allow people to get involved and excited about my project. Finally, my last idea is a GOFUNDME page where parents would be able to donate whenever they want to. Coach Federoff and I have talked about a rough estimate of paddlers there will be and how many tents we will need. We also were never able to recover 6 or 7 paddles from last season so here is an estimate of how much money I will need for my project.

Limitations
There are a few problems I may run into while doing my senior project. The major one is that I’m not able to raise the money I need to accomplish my goals. If I’m not able to raise the money I plan on making a video series on how the paddling team is doing along with videos to promote the paddling team. Also, one of my fundraising ideas may not be approved. I’m not sure if MIL allows teams to have company logos on their jerseys. (Update MIL teams are not allowed to have sponsors. I’m helping Coach Federoff run the carwash as my main fundraiser) Limitations and problems do occur and I have already addressed one that has come up and found a solution for it.
Key Learning and Growth Potential
When I go to college I plan on majoring in business marketing and minor in sports marketing. I have been paddling for four years and with this project, I hope to mix what I hope to do in the future with a passion I have. This senior project would allow me to gain skills in both of these areas and will give me some experience of how to market and gain money for things we need. Businesses always need a source of income, so do high schools and sports teams. I hope to pick up skills, tricks, and experience in marketing to people. I feel like this project will help me a lot as it will allow me a bridge into what I plan on pursuing in the future. This project will allow me to grow as a person and expand my knowledge for my chosen career path.
